Practicing Typography is good for you

I wrote Good Typography is not about you, but practicing typography can give you a lot. It makes you a better developer, UX designers, service provider, or designer. Practicing good typography encourages you to:

… shape your thoughts. Structure them and make them easy to digest. Give them flow and emphasis.

… think about the core of it. What is this content there for? Is it really something of value? If not, how could it become something of value to others?

… think about others and their needs. What should they get out of it, and how can you visually get this across?

… take a stand. Who are you and who do you want to connect with? If you know that, it’s easy to find the right design for it. To show up as the one that your crowd loves and not the one nobody hates.

… take a step back. Hone your skills and to sharpen your intent, even at the little things. Accept that it won’t be perfect. But it will be out there as good as it can be right now.

It’s a process.

Still feeling philosophical. But yeah, typography is this great tool for me to reflect. That forces me to make decisions, to make things clear. If the content, shape and intent aren’t clear, the result can’t be. How do you feel about this?
