On November 12th I’ll share with you in a free online workshop what to check to make sure you’re building your design system on a solid foundation.

Type decisions often come from a brand agency or dated guidelines that leave a lot of gaps to be filled in. Often they were never stress-tested against your real product. And now they’re about to become the base of your entire system – touching every component, every spacing and hierarchy decision.
This might result in:
- Inappropriate fonts, that harm function.
- Text that is harder to scan than it should be.
- Contrast and sizing issues that affect accessibility.
- Weak hierarchy and unclear emphasis.
- A system that is difficult to maintain.
And you are wondering:
- Will this type choice perform at scale?
- Will it actually help users?
- If it doesn’t – will we have to go back to branding to fix it?

Since 2007, I’ve been working with digital products, creating over 150 educational videos, giving talks, and reviewing over 200 fonts for usability and impact. Is this workshop about choosing fonts?
This workshop is aimed towards checking if your font selection works for the given context. Ideally you work for a product that already has defined guidelines that you then can assess. However, this process will also help you to better choose fonts.
Will there be a recording?
There will be no recording. This will be an interactive live workshop, where you will get most benefits out of attending, also having the opportunity to ask questions. If you can’t join live you will still get a short text summary.
Why is this free?
Typography is widely underestimated, yet it has a direct impact on usability. This session is a way to raise awareness and give you a practical framework you can apply immediately. It is also an opportunity for us to connect and see whether a deeper collaboration would be valuable.
